Insight

AGI started with a set of insights about how to make government work better, to deliver change and reduce poverty. The fundamentals of prioritisation, planning and performance management apply everywhere. But we’ve learned that they have to be tailored to fit the specific needs of each country – the system to manage road building for example doesn’t need to look the same in Rwanda and Liberia as long as they both work.

We’ve learned that it’s not just what we work on that matters, it’s how we work on it. Change ultimately comes from within a country and so we have to think deeply about how best to support governments to make change happen.

And we’ve learned from thinking and experience around the world, as part of a community that’s trying to do development differently, using innovative approaches that are government led and adapt quickly to what’s working and what isn’t.

This section shares some of the things we’ve learned along the way.

We’re part of a wider community that’s looking to do development differently… we’ve found this group really useful to learn from as we think about how we can have more impact.
